What is a velour rug?
Low-pile rug with open-cut tufts that are very close together. This forms a compact and soft surface for the feet. It gives a luxurious and elegant look which can be easily combined in a classic environment. Not only is a velour rug suitable in a classic interior design, it also adds that little bit of warmth to an industrial or modern interior. The velvet rug feels velvety soft and is therefore also very sensitive. Velour rugs are therefore most suitable for rooms with a low walking frequency.
Velvet rugs look great in any interior!
Speaking of velvet... is there actually a difference between velvet and velvet? The answer is: yes there is! Velours is actually the French translation of the word velvet. There is a slight difference though: velour is often heavier in weight and is the 'cut' version of velvet. A velour fabric is often cut loose, pulled or the pile loops are roughened. This method therefore makes velour less shiny than velvet. There is also another difference: velvet is always woven and velour can be woven.
