The Scandinavian interior design style stands for neutral shapes, minimalist designs and a clean colour palette. Graphic shapes, natural materials and thoughtful details make each Scandinavian rug unique in its kind. You don't have to expect many bells and whistles from the Nordics. 'What you see is what you get' seems to be the motto, but in a subtle way. The beauty of the Nordics is in the quality and often in the simplicity of the design. If you look at a high-pile rug, these are much in the Scandinavian style.
Scandinavian rug: clean, neutral and minimalist
Clean lines and simple patterns are the main shapes that adorn Scandinavian rugs. Whether zigzagged or taut, the lines meander right into your home. Still, sometimes a vintage rug with a typical retro look and its accompanying curly patterns, can slip in. But then in a typically Scandinavian colour.
Leave apples green in the fruit basket and gumballs pink in the candy wrapper, the Nordics seem to think. In their colour palette, there is no splash-out in terms of hues. Deep, natural colours such as ocean blue, earth brown, cloud grey or sand white dominate the Scandinavian living style. So do the corresponding Scandinavian rugs. This makes a Scandinavian rug a shaggy rug that adapts very easily to any interior.
Deep colours and natural materials dominate Scandinavian rugs
As Swedes, Finns, Norwegians and Danes love the outdoors immensely, they also love the products that nature creates. This is therefore clearly reflected in the rug collections coming from the North. For example, the natural material wool is quite durable in addition to being sturdy, soft, fireproof and cosy. A wool rug is therefore ideal for your living room or bedroom. Moreover, nowadays the white fur is also made into many other colours, prints and rug heights. But not only wool is a sought-after material in Scandinavia. Jute rugs are also very popular. This neutral but extremely strong material brings a tough and rustic touch to your interior and therefore fits perfectly with the firm Scandinavians.
Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark: that's where the most beautiful collections of Scandinavian rugs come from. Each and every item oozes quality and originality. The unique mix of light colours, the clean look and the light, natural material make Scandinavian rugs ideal for summer. Fortunately, the rugs don't have to stay in the far North and you can now bring them into your Dutch home!
