Of course, we already know the material rattan from rattan chairs, tables and cupboards. But a rattan rug is an extra nice addition to your home if you like to imagine yourself in tropical atmospheres. With a rattan rug, you go for a soothing and natural interior. A rattan rug can be combined with furniture and home accessories in any home.
Making a rattan rug
The material rattan comes from the Calamus rotang and is mainly found in tropical rainforests in the Malay Archipelago, southern China, Sri Lanka and at the foot of the Himalayas. In these tropical rainforests, the rattan palm can fancy itself as a climbing plant among all the other trees and plants. A rattan plant contains stems that vary between 3 millimetres to almost as much as 10 centimetres thick. You can't really miss this plant in the tropical rainforest either. The rattan plant can grow its stems up to 200 metres! The harvested stems can be formed into baskets, furniture and even rugs through beautiful braiding techniques!
Which material rug suits you best?
If you want a natural, soothing jungle vibe in your home, you can look at home accessories and furniture. But a rug can also add value. The rug material can make a good contribution to this atmosphere. A rattan rug can be a nice natural addition or, for example, a durable jute rug. Jute too is a natural fibre collected from the stem of the plant. After collection, the material is spun into a rug. If you prefer a playful and natural look, then a jute rug round could be the perfect solution for you. With it, you get a durable and natural rug that contributes to the atmosphere in your home and breaks up all the straight lines in the living space. The neutral and natural tones can be used in any living style.
A soft rattan backing
Is a rattan rug really soft on your feet? We can well imagine that this thought crossed your mind. To be honest, a rough plant fibre does not exactly evoke soft thoughts. Fortunately, rattan rugs are made in such a way that they feel softer than you think! Almost as soft as a woollen rug! Did you know that a woollen rug is also durable and natural? Within Volero, we therefore have a wide range of rugs made from natural and sustainable materials.
