A Rug Made From Hemp
A hemp rug in your living room? Yes! We love that thought! The world is paying more and more attention to the environment and nature. This happens in the smallest things and actions, including in the production of rugs. We have so many choices of rug materials these days. Hemp is a case in point. Hemp is one of the most sustainable natural materials and therefore highly suitable for making beautiful rugs. Sustainability combined with the natural colours and subtle designs makes a hemp rug very popular among consumers. Not only do you feel involved but you are also aware of your environment and that feels good!
Origin of the Hemp Rug
Where does the material hemp actually come from? Hemp is a plant whose seeds, fibres and woody parts can be used for various purposes. The fibres were traditionally made into rope, but textile fabrics are also woven from it. Hemp used to be used alongside or instead of linen and cotton because it is naturally very strong. It is therefore no wonder that many people choose a hemp rug. It is strong, hard-wearing, retains its colour and is versatile. Hemp rugs are now available in different rug sizes.
Hemp rugs often have natural tones, think brown, beige, taupe and sometimes dyed to a green rug. The coarse fibres bring a unique and robust charm. It brings warmth to the home at the same time. The fibres feel comfortable on your feet and, in addition, hemp rugs are hard-wearing and last a very long time. With its natural tones, a hemp rug will suit any home decor. Take bohemian rugs for example; laying down a hemp rug will unify the interior. Of course, don't forget to also combine greenery, in the sense of plants, to create the most sustainable and calming feeling! Rugs are made of different materials. Similar to hemp are jute rugs and sisal rugs. Another natural investment are woollen rugs!
